On a beautiful, crisp, first fall Saturday in November of 2023, 38 Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotarians, their family members, and guests raked and bagged leaves for 14 seniors in South Minneapolis. Without the help of this group of volunteers, these homeowners would not have been able to complete the task of cleaning up their yards for winter on their own.
This is an annual community service event for this active club. A warm relationship has developed over the 25 or so years that the club has conducted this project, with several homeowners coming out to chat with the volunteers, and even offering coffee, apple cider, water, and other treats to the rakers.
After completing the raking, volunteers adjourned to Matt’s Bar in South Minneapolis for a well-deserved reward of “Jucy Lucy” burgers, fries, and beverages of their choice.
