Dinner Du Nord: Activating Minnesota's Main Street
Scott Mayer owns his own event production, fundraising, and travel business in Minneapolis. He is the founder and project director of several community and entertainment based projects:
- Doors Open Minneapolis, a project telling the story of Minneapolis through the venues and the organizations and people who work in them;
- Ivey Awards, a Twin Cities professional theater program that culminated in a major Twin Cities event each September;
- Piece Prize, a series of online puzzling events benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association;
- One Man Project, a project honoring charities and men doing great work in each community. One Man Projects have been successfully produced in Dallas, Chicago, and Minneapolis; and
- Charlie Awards, a celebration of the Twin Cities food and restaurant community
Mayer was the originator of spark24, an event highlighting our performing arts community that was held at the start of the Republican National Convention, and Minneapolis MOSAIC, a celebration of cultural diversity through the arts.
He also leads tours to places he loves to share with others including Las Vegas, Eureka Springs Arkansas and Sarasota.
Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis is going to play host to America’s longest dinner table as we celebrate our city’s fantastic food and beverage hospitality. On Thursday, September 11 at 5:00 pm, you’ll have the opportunity to dine at a table stretching seven blocks on Nicollet Mall as you enjoy your choice of signature dishes from a variety of over 40 Minneapolis restaurants and food trucks, served al fresco on the bus-free Mall.
This landmark event invites diners to sample signature dishes from over 40 local establishments, spanning fine dining to casual food truck fare, all while seated alfresco on the bus-free corridor of Nicollet. Whether you’re craving handmade eggrolls, gourmet gnocchi, or a sizzling steak, Dinner du Nord promises a one-of-a-kind culinary experience with the city skyline as its backdrop.
But Dinner du Nord isn’t just about the food (though there will be plenty of that). It’s a celebration of Minneapolis’ hospitality community—the chefs, servers, restaurateurs, and creatives who power the city’s dining culture—and a chance to rediscover the heart of downtown.
